Stránov Castle overlooks new tunnel construction

Stránov Castle, located in Jizerní Vtelno and owned by the Šimonků family, is currently situated near the construction of the Stránov road tunnel. This 270-meter tunnel is a key component of the new bypass and road relocation for the I/16 route, with completion expected by autumn of next year.

The castle itself has a history dating back to a 15th-century Gothic fortress known as Nový Stránov. It underwent a Neo-Renaissance reconstruction in the late 19th century based on a project by Josef Schulze. Visitors can tour the interiors, which provide insight into the history of the estate and the Šimonků family.
