Stromae reaches one billion Spotify streams with ‘Alors On Danse’

Brussels-based artist Stromae has reached a major streaming milestone, with his 2010 hit song ‘Alors On Danse’ surpassing one billion plays on Spotify. This achievement makes him only the second artist to join Spotify’s ‘Billions Club’ with a French-language track, following Canadian singer-songwriter Patrick Watson, whose song ‘Je te laisserai des mots’ reached the mark in 2024.

Originally released on his debut album ‘Cheese’, the track is noted for its combination of a danceable beat and melancholic lyrics. Stromae’s success on the platform is extensive; he was recently named Spotify’s most-streamed French-speaking artist in non-French-speaking countries. Other Belgian artists, such as Gotye and Lost Frequencies, also hold multiple tracks with over one billion streams on the service.
