Strone Primary School closure remains under review

Strone Primary School in Cowal is recommended to remain temporarily closed following a lack of registered pupils for the current academic year. A report to the Argyll and Bute Council’s community services committee indicates that no pupils are currently enrolled, and registration for August 2026 has also seen no entries.

All staff members have been redeployed to other positions within the authority. While a community group proposed converting the building into a wellness centre, the proposal could not proceed because it would prevent the premises from being quickly repurposed should the school need to reopen. An options appraisal regarding the school's future is scheduled for December.
