Strong winds hit San Juan, Argentina as rain spreads across Chile

The Argentine weather service forecasts a Zonda wind event in San Juan province, with gusts reaching 60‑69 km/h in the morning and temperatures between 8 °C and 15 °C. Winds will shift from the south, persisting through the day at 23‑41 km/h, prompting advisories to secure objects and drive cautiously.

A cold front moving across Chile will bring rain, snow and sleet to twelve regions, including the north‑central areas of Valparaíso, Santiago and O’Higgins, as well as the southern zones of La Araucanía, Los Lagos and Magallanes. Wind speeds may top 70 km/h on Easter Island, while the mainland sees gusts up to 60 km/h in places like Rancagua. The system also affects Isla de Pascua and the Antarctic Peninsula, with mixed precipitation expected throughout the day.
