Structural collapses reported in Almazán and Los Mochis

In Almazán, Spain, a new structural collapse occurred at the Palacio de los Hurtado de Mendoza during the night of September 20, 2026. This incident follows a previous partial collapse earlier in the month. The recent damage includes parts of the building's roof and several gallery columns that fell near the road.

Local authorities and the Director General of Cultural Heritage, José Ramón Sola, have met with the mayor of Almazán to discuss conservation efforts. The regional administration has emphasized that the responsibility for maintaining cultural heritage assets lies with the owners, regardless of the property's ownership structure.

Meanwhile, in Los Mochis, Mexico, authorities continue to cordon off a sinkhole in the La Memoria subdivision where a public transport truck fell on September 9, 2026. No injuries were reported during the incident, though the vehicle sustained body damage.

The Director of Public Works, Jesús Ernesto Tapia Castro, stated that officials are currently assessing damage to the sanitary drainage subcollector to determine the extent of the repairs needed. While funds have been budgeted, the exact start date for rehabilitation remains undetermined as officials manage resource allocation for the approximately 295 meters of damaged piping.
