Structural damage reported in Jabłonna and Gniezno
Two separate incidents involving structural damage have been reported in Poland.
In Jabłonna, a powerful lightning strike hit a single-family home on Listopadowa Street on the evening of August 17. The impact caused significant damage to the chimney, roof, and electrical installations. Residents reported a loud explosion-like sound and a bright flash. While the strike caused damage to nearby appliances in neighboring homes, no injuries were reported, and firefighters confirmed there was no fire risk after inspecting the site with thermal imaging.
In Gniezno, residents of an apartment block on Pułkowa 3 have raised alarms regarding structural cracks in their building. They claim that nearby developer activities, specifically the use of vibratory equipment near the foundations, are causing the building to crack and balconies to detach. The District Building Supervision Inspectorate has taken up the case, and the National Labour Inspectorate has conducted an inspection at the construction site. Despite these interventions, residents report that work continues.
