Structural fires reported in Rionegro and Yopal

Two separate structural fires have been reported in Colombia, causing significant property damage.

In Rionegro, a fire broke out in a fourth-floor apartment in the Guillermo Gaviria urbanization. The Rionegro Fire Department responded with 13 units, including two extinction machines and an ambulance, to control the flames. The fire damaged three bedrooms, part of the kitchen, and the entire ceiling of the unit, while heat and gas accumulation also affected the fifth floor. The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation.

In Yopal, a fire—suspected to be caused by a short circuit—destroyed a bedroom shared by a mother and her five-month-old baby. The incident caused approximately 15 million pesos in infrastructure damage, affecting two bedrooms, the ceiling, windows, and walls. The family is currently seeking donations of construction materials, clothing, and baby supplies to recover their home.
