Struma River to host Balkan rafting cup in October

The Bulgarian Rafting Federation is organizing the annual autumn Struma Cup, which will be held as a Balkan Cup on October 17 and 18, 2026. The competition will take place in the Kresna Gorge on the Struma River, specifically on the slalom course near the Kriya tunnel.

Participants will compete in traditional rafting disciplines, including Slalom, Sprint, and Head-to-Head, across men's, women's, and mixed team categories. Competitors are expected from Bulgaria and other Balkan regional countries. The event includes environmental initiatives such as cleaning the river section and demonstration kayak descents to promote water sports and nature conservation.
