Kostadin Kostadinov faces criminal charges in Strumica

Police in Strumica have filed criminal charges against former Mayor Kostadin Kostadinov and two other individuals for abuse of official position and falsification of documents. The charges stem from an incident in 2022 involving the illegal legalization of a building in the village of Kuklish.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the suspects allegedly used a falsified technical report to claim that certain structures on a cadastral plot did not exist. This allowed for the removal of municipal-owned objects from the records, enabling a private individual to gain unlawful property benefits and purchase approximately 866 square meters of state land.

Kostadinov has responded to the allegations via social media, stating that his actions were taken in accordance with the law and established procedures. He characterized the accusations as being driven by personal interests and political intrigue, asserting that he is prepared to defend his decisions in court and respects the presumption of innocence.
