Stryker Zablocki scores two shorthanded goals in Northeastern win
Northeastern University's women's hockey team secured a 2-0 victory against Providence, led by sophomore forward Stryker Zablocki. Zablocki scored two unassisted shorthanded goals in the second period, just one minute and 28 seconds apart. This performance marks the first time since 2020 that Northeastern has recorded two shorthanded goals in a single game, and the first time since 2013 that a single player has achieved the feat for the program.
Goaltender Lisa Jönsson contributed to the shutout with 26 saves. The win brings Northeastern's record to 1-1-0 overall and 1-0-0 in Hockey East.
Zablocki, a native of Prince Albert, Canada, previously earned Hockey East Player of the Year and Co-Rookie of the Year honors. Her recruitment to Northeastern was influenced by her competitive nature and connections to Northeastern alumni.
