Stuart Broad questions Imam-ul-Haq's calf injury credibility
Former England fast bowler Stuart Broad has criticized Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq, suggesting his calf injury during the second Test against England at Lord's may have been exaggerated or feigned.
Imam was ruled out of the match after sustaining a calf injury while fielding on the first day, leaving Pakistan with only ten fit players. However, controversy arose when Imam was seen on Day 4 at the Lord's sidelines with his leg heavily strapped, appearing to limp while practicing batting. Broad expressed his disapproval to Sky Sports, stating, “That’s all for show. ... You can do that inside the indoor school without anyone seeing, don’t have to come wearing shorts and tape and hobble around like that.”
These allegations of injury-related misconduct were supported by former Pakistani batter and chief selector Mohammad Wasim, who referenced past concerns regarding Imam's injury reporting. While the Pakistan medical team officially ruled him out of the match, reports indicated he remained available to bat if the team faced a dire situation during their second innings chase.
