Studenac retail chain faces bankruptcy battle and extortion allegations

The Croatian retail chain Studenac is facing a severe financial crisis characterized by blocked bank accounts totaling 29 million euros and a legal battle over its insolvency status. The company has filed for court-supervised pre-bankruptcy restructuring to protect its operations and approximately 7,000 employees across more than 1,000 stores.

Simultaneously, A&G Logistika 01 has filed for bankruptcy against Studenac, claiming an unpaid debt of approximately 800,000 euros. A&G Logistika 01 has requested the appointment of a temporary bankruptcy administrator and restrictions on Studenac's ability to dispose of assets. The creditor argues that Studenac is over-indebted, noting that short-term liabilities significantly exceed short-term assets.

Studenac has responded by accusing A&G Logistika 01 owner Antonio Gavranović of attempted extortion. The company claims that Gavranović used the threat of criminal charges and bankruptcy to pressure the management into making preferential payments outside of the judicial process. Studenac is currently preparing legal action against Gavranović and maintains that its restructuring plan is the only viable path to business continuity.
