Student attacks two classmates and a staff member with a knife in Colima

A third-grade student attacked two classmates and a school staff member with a knife at the José Vasconcelos Secondary School in Villa de Álvarez, Colima. The incident occurred around 7:40 a.m. on a Thursday.

The attack injured two second-grade students and a school prefect who attempted to intervene. While one student reportedly suffered only superficial wounds, the prefect sustained more significant injuries, including a deep wound to the arm and a cut to the nape of the neck, requiring surgical intervention. The Secretary of Education and Culture of Colima stated that all three victims are out of danger.

Following the event, parents gathered at the school to demand increased security measures, specifically calling for the reinstatement of backpack inspections, known as ‘Operación Mochila’. Colima Governor Indira Vizcaíno confirmed that the situation was controlled and that authorities are following established protocols to investigate the incident and ensure school safety.
