Student attacks teacher with axe during Facebook livestream in Malaysia

A student attacked a teacher with an axe at an international school in Kuching, Sarawak, while livestreaming the assault on Facebook for approximately twelve minutes. The incident occurred on Wednesday, October 21. According to investigators, the teenager attached a mobile phone to his head to broadcast the attack, which included him retrieving an axe, a utility knife, and a lighter from a bag before entering a classroom.

During the attack, the student reportedly brandished the weapon at fleeing students, prompting a teacher to intervene to protect them. Two classmates managed to immobilize the aggressor and disarm him, holding him until police arrived. The teacher sustained cuts to her hand during the struggle and was transported to a hospital for medical assistance. No other students were reported injured.

Following his arrest, the teenager was transferred to a psychiatric ward for a full psychological evaluation. Authorities have since removed the video from social media. Investigators have interviewed 24 individuals, including family members, classmates, and medical staff, and are reviewing online messages posted by the suspect in the days leading up to the event.
