Student Carlos Alexander Ortiz Sánchez found dead in Toluca

Carlos Alexander Ortiz Sánchez, a 19-year-old student at the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México (UAEMéx), has been found dead following a period of disappearance.

Reports indicate that Ortiz Sánchez was struck by a vehicle during the early hours of Friday on Paseo Tollocan, near the Isidro Fabela Primera Sección neighborhood in Toluca. According to available information, a vehicle belonging to the company Totalplay was involved in the accident, and the driver remained at the scene.

The student, who was enrolled in the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences, had been missing since September 3. His family and the university community had launched an extensive search effort on social media to locate him. His body was initially taken to the Institute of Forensic Services as an unidentified person before being officially identified on Saturday.
