Student developers leverage AI for practical solutions in Singapore and Philippines
Recent hackathons in Singapore and the Philippines have highlighted the growing role of student-led artificial intelligence development in solving practical challenges.
In Singapore, Codepresso concluded its ‘Zero100 AI Builderthon,’ where 53 participants from 21 teams developed AI solutions for corporate workflows. The event involved Korean student associations from the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, and Singapore Management University. Codepresso signed Memorandums of Understanding with these student associations to establish ongoing internship pipelines and regular hackathons.
In the Philippines, teams from Silliman University participated in the ‘IBPAP Challenge 2026’ in Cebu City. The university’s teams developed two specific AI-enabled tools: ‘GentleTrike,’ an AI-powered rural ride-sharing platform for tricycle transportation, and ‘AgakAI,’ a civic access companion designed to help senior citizens navigate government services using multilingual voice and text prompts in Cebuano, Tagalog, or English.
