Student dies at Sanmitra Sainik School in Chandrapur

A 12-year-old student, identified as Jivan Vilas Jharekar, died under suspicious circumstances at the Sanmitra Sainik School hostel in Visapur, Chandrapur district. The student, a sixth-grade resident of Khamada village, was reportedly suffering from a skin condition.

According to reports, the student's father had taken him to a dermatologist in Chandrapur for treatment. Following the medical visit, the father returned the boy to the school before departing for their home village. Shortly after, the father received calls from school staff informing him of his son's death.

Preliminary police investigations suggest the death may be a suicide, possibly due to the student's distress over not being allowed to return home. While there are allegations of negligence against the school management, the principal has denied these claims, stating that proper medical assistance was provided and the father was notified. Ramnagar Police are currently conducting a detailed investigation and awaiting a post-mortem report to determine the exact cause of death.
