Student experiences highlight school preparation and backpack health

Personal accounts highlight challenges regarding school preparation and physical health for students. One parent describes the unintended consequences of over-preparing a child for first grade; by teaching reading, writing, and math extensively before enrollment, the child found the initial curriculum boring and lost interest in attending school.

Another perspective addresses the physical impact of school bags. The use of single-strap messenger bags to carry heavy books can negatively affect posture and spinal health. While backpacks are recommended for ergonomic support, social factors often lead older students to prefer messenger bags despite the potential long-term health risks to the back and spine.
