Student Government Associations fill vacancies and address campus issues

Student Government Associations at different institutions have held recent meetings to address leadership vacancies and campus initiatives.

At the University of Southern Indiana, the SGA began the 2026-2027 school year with President Mackenzie Hinton presiding over the appointment of several officers. New appointments include Wanjiru Theuri as Chief Justice and Cade Smithson as Attorney General. Other filled roles include Director of Campus Engagement, Liberal Arts Representatives, and various members-at-large representing Greek life and commuter students.

In a separate student government session, President Ayesha Farrukh oversaw the filling of senate vacancies for the classes of 2027 and 2028. The meeting also addressed campus welfare concerns, such as the need for more menstrual products in restrooms and discussions regarding extended operational hours for the Elizabeth Huth Coates Library. Additionally, updates were provided regarding staggered improvements to dining services.
