Student Hatice Kübra Gedik dies from intestinal infection

Hatice Kübra Gedik, a second-year Management Information Systems student at Trabzon University School of Applied Sciences, has passed away following a severe intestinal infection.

Gedik was reportedly admitted to Karadeniz Technical University (KTÜ) Farabi Hospital after experiencing nausea, vomiting, and intense abdominal pain while staying at the Fuat Sezgin Girls' Dormitory. Despite receiving intensive care for approximately three days, she succumbed to the illness on October 23, 2026. Initial assessments suggest the death was caused by a viral infection.

A funeral service was held in the Pazar district of Rize, her hometown, following Friday prayers. Both the Trabzon University Rectorate and the Trabzon Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports issued condolences to her family and the university community.
