Student in Bingöl develops search and rescue robot

Emir Azam Alban, an 11th-grade student at Karşıyaka Anadolu Lisesi in Bingöl, has developed a prototype for a search and rescue robot. Inspired by his experience as a survivor of the 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquakes, Alban and his classmates spent approximately four to five months designing the device to assist in environments too dangerous for humans, such as earthquake rubble or mine collapses.

The prototype features six wheels, two suspension systems, and four fixed motors, allowing it to reach speeds of 25 kilometers per hour. Its suspension system is designed to navigate obstacles like rocks, stairs, and protrusions of about 5-6 centimeters. Future development plans for the robot include the integration of cameras and three-dimensional mapping capabilities to enhance its utility in disaster zones.
