Student killed in stabbing at Koraput school in Odisha

Mahesh Bagh, a Class‑X student from Bariniput village in Odisha's Koraput district, was stabbed to death during the midday lunch break at Bariniput Project High School. Police say two brothers, Avatabh Hial and Rian Hial, confronted the boy near the school premises and inflicted fatal injuries; a separate report also names a former student, Rajkumar, as the alleged assailant. Mahesh was taken to a nearby private hospital where he died while receiving treatment.

Following the incident, his family blocked a national highway demanding the immediate arrest of the accused. Police have registered a case, deployed a forensic team, and SDO Archita Mittal has overseen the investigation. The school headmaster confirmed that security personnel were on duty during the break, and the incident has shocked the local community.
