Student leader Sifat Faiz recounts police brutality in Patna to Rahul Gandhi

Sifat Faiz, the first female Vice President of the Patna University Students' Union, recounted instances of police brutality against students to Rahul Gandhi during the 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' program in Prayagraj.

Faiz alleged that during peaceful protests in Patna on July 22, following incidents in Delhi, the Bihar government and police responded with violence. She reported that students were beaten and detained illegally overnight. Additionally, she noted that in Siwan, protesters faced gunfire from AK-47s, resulting in serious injuries to students.

Criticizing the current educational system, Faiz highlighted a cycle where students protest against paper leaks and lack of job vacancies, only to face lathi charges and arrests. She specifically emphasized the struggle faced by female students, who must fight domestic opposition to pursue education, protest for jobs, and face police crackdowns during demonstrations.
