Student leadership elections in Cuba and disinformation monitoring in Peru
In Cuba, the Federation of Secondary Education Students (FEEM) conducted an election process at the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Manzanillo. The event aimed to strengthen student leadership and democratic participation within the university community, with oversight from local academic and youth union authorities.
In Peru, communication students are participating in monitoring digital content for the 2026 municipal and regional elections. As part of the University Network for Information Integrity, students are using the UNDP-funded eMonitor platform to track hate speech and disinformation on social media. This initiative seeks to provide data to help electoral bodies develop public policies to regulate digital content and protect the integrity of candidates.
