Student List candidate rejects cooperation with Serb List in Kosovo

Jugosllav Gashiq, a candidate for the Student List in Kosovo, has stated that his party will not cooperate with the Serb List. Gashiq, representing a group that emerged from anti-government protests in Serbia, argued that the Serb List is primarily responsible for the current situation of Serbs in the region.

The Student List gained prominence following snap parliamentary elections in late October, which ended the 14-year rule of former Serbian President Aleksandar Vuçiq and the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS). Gashiq characterized the Serb List as an implementer of SNS policies within Kosovo.

While acknowledging that the Serb List holds institutional positions that the Student List cannot immediately influence, Gashiq noted that these positions do not provide immunity from potential criminal liability. He stated that mechanisms would be used to keep representatives in check. Gashiq also urged the Serbian community to remain calm, assuring them that financial assistance and welfare payments would not be cut off despite rumors to the contrary.
