Student living costs in Poland rise to over 4,000 PLN monthly

According to the ‘Student Wallet 2026’ report by the Polish Bank Association, the average monthly expenditure for a student in Poland has reached 4,045.82 PLN. This represents a significant increase of over 2,400 PLN compared to 2016, when costs were estimated at 1,574 PLN.

Due to rising costs, 42% of students are considering permanent employment. Analysis of 124,000 job advertisements shows that the retail, HoReCa (hotel, restaurant, cafe), and logistics sectors offer the most opportunities, with hourly rates ranging from 31.40 PLN to 45 PLN gross.

To mitigate financial difficulties, students in Poland can access various forms of non-repayable support. These include social scholarships for those in difficult material situations, scholarships for persons with disabilities, rector's scholarships for academic or artistic excellence, and one-time emergency grants. These benefits are available to students at both public and non-public universities, including those in full-time and part-time programs, though certain state officials and soldiers may be ineligible.
