University of Sarajevo students condemn Republika Srpska student conclusions

The Student Parliament of the University of Sarajevo (SPUS) has issued a strong condemnation of conclusions adopted by student organizations in Republika Srpska, including the Union of Students of Republika Srpska and the Student Parliament of the University of East Sarajevo.

SPUS expressed deep concern over statements that claim 'Republika Srpska is not a genocidal entity' and reject the status of certain generals as war criminals. The parliament emphasized that such claims do not invalidate the legally binding court rulings regarding the Srebrenica genocide, nor do they negate the individual responsibility of Ratko Mladić and Radovan Karadžić, both of whom were sentenced to life imprisonment for genocide and war crimes.

Additionally, SPUS raised alarms over the statement 'Drina is a backbone, not a border,' viewing it as a challenge to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The organization has called upon relevant authorities to take action under Article 145a of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which addresses the public approval, denial, or gross minimization of genocide and war crimes.
