Student protests in Serbia and civil unrest in Albania

Student-led protests in Serbia have gained national momentum following a fatal railway station roof collapse in Novi Sad on November 1, 2024, which resulted in 15 deaths. These demonstrations have focused on demands for institutional accountability, transparency, and anti-corruption measures, characterized by peaceful methods such as university blockades and mass marches without widespread violence or property damage.

In contrast, recent unrest in Tirana, Albania, has been marked by episodes of violence, clashes with police, and damage to both public and private property. While long-term peaceful protests occurred in the region, the recent escalation in Albania involved rapid intensification and physical confrontations, differing from the non-violent mobilization seen in the Serbian student movement.
