Student seriously injured in Kota Kinabalu car accident

An 11-year-old student sustained serious head injuries after being struck by a car while crossing the road in front of Sekolah Kebangsaan Darau in Manggatal, Kota Kinabalu. The incident occurred around 8:00 AM on Monday along Jalan Tuaran Lama.

Preliminary investigations by the Kota Kinabalu District Police indicate the vehicle, a Proton Waja driven by a 69-year-old man, was traveling from Pekan Manggatal toward a supermarket when the child reportedly ran across the road from right to left. The victim was rushed to the Red Zone of the Likas Hospital Emergency Department for treatment.

Police have detained the vehicle for technical inspection by PUSPAKOM. The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area and recording statements from all involved parties.
