Student swimmer Komei Kitaguni reports national qualification to Takatsuki Mayor

Komei Kitaguni, a first-year student at Takatsuki Municipal Daiichi Junior High School, visited Takatsuki City Hall to report his qualification for a national swimming competition to Mayor Takeshi Hamada.

Following a performance at an official qualifying meet in Kadoma, Osaka, on July 18, Kitaguni recorded a time of 2:05.85 in the 200m freestyle, surpassing the standard qualifying time of 2:06.23. He is set to compete in the 49th National JOC Junior Olympic Cup Summer Swimming Championships in Tokyo, starting August 22.

Kitaguni, who began swimming in second grade and currently belongs to a swimming club in Osaka, stated his goal is to reach the finals. Mayor Hamada offered encouragement, urging him to demonstrate the results of his training.
