Student technology initiatives announced in Japan
Several initiatives highlighting student-led technological innovation are taking place in Japan. Supporters, a service connecting student engineers with companies, has announced the “Giiku Ten 2026” pitch contest. The competition, which aims to showcase the technical skills and creativity of student developers, will feature an online preliminary round on October 31, 2026, followed by a final competition at TOKYO NODE HALL in Toranomon on November 28, 2026. The winner will receive a prize of 1 million yen.
In a separate development, the “Kyoto Seika University Electronics Workshop Club” and students from Kyoto Prefectural Hokuryo High School have been selected as finalists for the “S×PARK2026” digital school festival award. Their project, titled “Regional Circle Connected by Games,” focuses on multi-generational community exchange through co-created games. The finalists will exhibit their work and undergo final judging at the Digital School Festival 2026 held at the Umeda Sky Building in Osaka on October 3–4, 2026.
