Student transport services face criticism in Carpi and Papardo

Public transportation services for students in Italy are facing significant criticism due to overcrowding and scheduling issues. In Carpi, municipal councilor Michele De Rosa has denounced the school transport system as being ‘at a breaking point,’ noting that buses are frequently overcrowded and leaving students stranded at stops. A local survey indicated that over 200 respondents rated the mobility service as insufficient. Critics also pointed to aging, polluting vehicles and a lack of effective connections for students commuting from surrounding areas.

Similarly, students at the Papardo university hub have reported major difficulties with public transit. Representatives from the Next-Gen SSU student association highlighted issues with lines 39 and 24, noting that current schedules often cause students to arrive too late for their first lectures. Students are calling for more frequent services—reducing wait times from 40 minutes to approximately 20 minutes—and more functional routes that align better with academic timetables.
