Students at Chapingo University protest rector and alleged political interference
Students at the Universidad Autónoma Chapingo (UACh) held protests on October 27 to oppose the continued leadership of Rector Ángel Garduño García. During the demonstrations, students and faculty members raised allegations regarding the influence of the Antorcha Campesina movement within the university.
Protesters claim the movement has exerted influence over administrative areas, governing bodies, and decision-making processes, including the University Council and various directorates. Additionally, critics have linked the group to the occupation of 1,640 hectares at the Zoquiapan Experimental Forest Station. These allegations have reignited debates concerning the institution's autonomy and the role of political groups in university governance.
