Students conduct regional research on health and environment

Students in Uruguay and Argentina are conducting local research projects focused on health and environmental sustainability.

In Uruguay, students from Colegio Fray Bentos developed the “Formación Deportiva Juvenil” (FDJ) project. The research investigates the relationship between sports, nutrition, and healthy development in adolescents aged 12 to 16. The study covers topics such as the use of creatine and other supplements, the impact of weight training on teenagers, and the necessity of prioritizing proper technique over heavy lifting. The students conducted interviews with local nutritionists to better understand adolescent dietary habits.

In Argentina, first-year students from CENS Nº 451 in Adolfo Gonzales Chaves conducted an interdisciplinary study titled “Salud y ambiente” (Health and Environment). Their research focused on the exponential growth of the starling population in Plaza 25 de Mayo. The students investigated the environmental impact of the birds, specifically the accumulation of excrement on trees, sidewalks, and monuments, and interviewed municipal officials regarding the maintenance and regulation of urban green spaces.
