Students develop assistive technology projects for inclusion
In Paraguay, students Iván Medina and Manuel Ibarra from the Colegio Técnico Santa Clara in Coronel Bogado have developed a smart cane designed to assist visually impaired individuals. The device was recently presented to communicator Lucía Benítez to improve her mobility, autonomy, and safety.
In Spain, the CEIP Blas Infante school in Jerez received the Best ICT Project for Inclusive Education, Equality, and Diversity award at the Simo Educación fair in Madrid. Their 'Proyecto Compá' involves the use of smart bracelets equipped with micro:bit technology, which allow children with hearing impairments to receive signals from referees during sports matches. The project was developed to engage students with high cognitive abilities while simultaneously fostering inclusion for those with disabilities.
