Students die by suicide amid competitive exam pressures in Pune and Jaipur

Two separate incidents of student suicides involving individuals preparing for competitive examinations have been reported in India.

In Pune, 28-year-old Prathamesh Deshmukh allegedly died by suicide at his rented accommodation. Police noted that Deshmukh was facing significant financial pressure, owing approximately Rs 2.50 lakh, and may have been stressed by his inability to clear exams. His death occurs amid ongoing protests by Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) aspirants demanding accountability following alleged paper leaks and examination irregularities.

In Jaipur, a 22-year-old student identified as Rakesh died by suicide at a hotel. Before the incident, he reportedly posted a message on social media stating he had failed to meet his parents' expectations. Family members discovered him in his hotel room after he stopped responding to phone calls.
