Students engage in reforestation and mentorship projects
Students in Austria and Germany are participating in various community and educational initiatives. In Austria, students engaged in a climate project involving reforestation in the Leutasch and Stams forest areas. Guided by forest warden Patrick Mair, the group planted a mix of bird cherry, larch, beech, maple, and fir trees. To support growth, the saplings were treated with mycorrhizal spores and protected from wildlife with netting.
In Germany, Kloster Lehnin launched a school mentorship project. Eighth-grade students serve as mentors to first-grade students, participating in a ceremony where they present 'Zuckertüten' (sugar cones) to the newcomers. The program is designed to foster empathy, social competence, and responsibility in older students while providing orientation and support for younger children entering school.
