Students engage with agricultural experts in Stuttgart
More than 120 students participated in a press conference organized by the non-profit educational association i. m. a e. V. during the Agricultural Main Festival in Stuttgart, Germany. The event, themed ‘From field to plate – how does regional agriculture work today?’, allowed students to engage directly with agricultural experts.
Participants questioned Joachim Rukwied, President of the German Farmers' Association and the Baden-Württemberg State Farmers' Association, and Professor Dr. Christine Wiek from the University of Hohenheim. The discussions covered a wide range of topics, including cattle lifespan, animal welfare, the costs of livestock, and how farmers manage sick animals.
Students also addressed complex subjects such as plant protection and its role in food security and biodiversity. The dialogue extended to dietary trends, where students expressed interest in various eating habits, including a critical perspective on veganism.
