Students face sanctions after pyrotechnics explosion at school in Panama
Four middle school students at the Centro de Educación Básica General José María Barranco (JMB) face disciplinary action after detonating pyrotechnics inside a school restroom. The explosion caused significant damage to the facility, the full extent of which is being assessed by the Ministry of Education (MEDUCA).
School director Carlos Fernández stated that the students' suspensions will be served after the second trimester exams conclude. The parents of the involved students have been summoned and have agreed to compensate the school for the damages.
Public Ministry officials are investigating the incident due to the damage caused to Ministry of Education property. Additionally, the school director called upon authorities and local merchants to enforce laws prohibiting the sale of pyrotechnics to minors.
