Students in Argentina and Spain lead local environmental conservation efforts

In Epuyén, Argentina, second-year students from Escuela Nº 774 have launched a reforestation project focused on planting native species in urban areas. Coordinated by biology teacher Leandro Vallejos, the initiative aims to promote environmental care, support pollinators, and replace pine trees previously removed for fire prevention. The first phase involves planting 12 specimens, including species such as notros, chilcos, michay, siete camisas, and amancay. Students will also be responsible for the ongoing care and irrigation of the plants.

In Valga, Spain, students from a forestry employment workshop are conducting conservation work across various public spaces. Their activities include removing invasive species, such as mimosas and acacias, from the Mina Mercedes lagoon to encourage native flora regeneration. The team has also performed maintenance, pruning, and cleaning at Irmáns Dios Mosquera park, the Vilarello fluvial area, and several other local landmarks, including archaeological sites and viewpoints, to apply their training to public land management.
