Students in Argentina participate in environmental and sustainability educational activities

Students in Argentina have engaged in various educational initiatives focused on environmental management and sustainability. At the ITECO Institute, second and third-year students of Environmental Management and Health participated in a technical visit to a sewage treatment plant. Led by engineer Emanuel Laportilla, the visit detailed the facility's evolution from a single 250 m³/h line to a dual-line system with a combined capacity of 750 m³/h. Students observed the full purification process, including primary treatment for solids removal, biological treatment using percolating beds to reduce organic matter, and final disinfection through chlorination before discharge.

In Sierra Colorada, a collaborative project titled “From waste to resource: synthesis of biodiesel from used vegetable oil” brought together students from ESRN N° 82 and the Higher Technician program in Occupational Health and Safety. The laboratory experience focused on synthesizing biodiesel from used vegetable oil, aiming to demonstrate how everyday waste can be transformed into a useful resource through scientific application and environmental stewardship.
