Students in Chile and Mexico engage in climate and space technology challenges
The University of Talca in Chile has launched a call for students to represent the institution at COP31, the United Nations climate change conference scheduled for November 2026 in Antalya, Turkey. The initiative will fund the travel and stay for a winning team composed of two undergraduate students and one academic representative. The selected group will present innovative research focused on sustainable solutions to the global climate crisis.
In Mexico, the NASA Space Apps Challenge 2026 will take place on November 14 and 15 in Boca del Río. Hosted at the Universidad Veracruzana, this 48-hour hackathon tasks participants with developing technological solutions to challenges provided by NASA. Topics include space exploration, such as studying exoplanets and Mars settlements, as well as terrestrial issues like using satellite data to improve agricultural planning and weather monitoring.
