Students in Italy protest school structural decay
Students in various Italian regions are protesting against deteriorating school infrastructure and inadequate facilities.
In Montevarchi, Mayor Silvia Chiassai Martini addressed protests from students at the IIS Varchi professional institute. The students expressed concerns that a newly constructed facility might not be intended for their use. The Mayor defended the students' respectful protest and emphasized that the new structure was specifically planned to replace the current via Marconi site, which she described as being in a state of unacceptable degradation, lacking heating and containing unusable sections.
In Viterbo, students from the Paolo Ruffini high school held a strike to protest the critical condition of their school. Demonstrators cited structural decay and a lack of space as factors compromising their right to education. They criticized provincial leadership, specifically President Alessandro Romoli, demanding concrete answers regarding unfinished renovations at the Via della Verità site and rejecting attempts to blame students for the building's decline.
