Students in Mato Grosso receive awards for science and literature

Several students and schools in Mato Grosso, Brazil, have been recognized in separate educational initiatives.

In Alta Floresta, four schools were honored through the “Chamado da Rainha Guardiã” initiative, part of the Pantanal Guardians Science Popularization Program by the National Institute for Pantanal Research (INPP). The program aims to connect youth with the biodiversity and culture of the Pantanal biome. Among the winners, E.M. Anjo da Guarda secured first place in the Mato Grosso municipal schools category, followed by E.M. Jardim das Flores in second and E.M. Laura Vicuña in fifth. Colégio Alta Floresta also placed fourth in the private schools category. Winners received trophies, certificates, and various technological prizes, including 3D printers and virtual reality kits.

In Várzea Grande, student Evelin Lorrayne de Campos Queiroz from EMEB Professor Paulo Freire earned second place in the poetry category of the “MPT na Escola” award, organized by the Labor Public Prosecutor's Office (MPT). The competition involved 67,000 public school students across 24 municipalities in Mato Grosso. Queiroz’s winning poem addressed the challenges of balancing school and work, inspired by her parents' experiences. The project highlights the role of writing as a tool for social reflection and knowledge construction.
