Students in New Zealand engage in science and sustainability programs
Students in the Taranaki region participated in the 12th annual Taranaki Primary Schools Science and Engineering Fair at the Devon Hotel. Over 220 learners presented projects ranging from biofuel and wind farm models to plant growing technologies. The event featured guest speaker DebbieSaurus from Nanogirl Labs and was hosted by Energy Resources Aotearoa.
In a separate environmental initiative, pupils from Turaki School and Owhango School visited the Taumarunui Resource Recovery Centre as part of the Enviroschools programme. Supported by the Ruapehu District Council, the visit focused on waste hierarchy and resource recovery. Students participated in practical challenges, such as using recycled materials to build robots and sourcing reusable items for school gardens, to learn about diverting waste from landfills.
