Students in Portugal protest rising higher education costs

Students in Portugal are protesting against the rising costs of higher education, specifically targeting potential tuition fee increases and the high cost of accommodation, which some students report exceeds 500 euros per month.

In a separate incident at the IADE institution, social media reports surfaced regarding a lack of seating for students during a campus event on October 12. The institution confirmed that a shortage of chairs occurred in one classroom due to the reorganization of spaces for a protocol signing ceremony involving António José Seguro. IADE described the situation as an “absolutely exceptional and limited in time” occurrence, noting that the campus maintains approximately 90 classrooms and auditoriums.
