Students in San Fernando march to commemorate Noche de los Lápices

Students in San Fernando, Buenos Aires, organized a march to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the ‘Noche de los Lápices’ (Night of the Pencils). The mobilization was coordinated by the Unión de Estudiantes Secundarios (UES) representing the districts of Vicente López, San Isidro, San Martín, and San Fernando.

The march proceeded from Plaza Canal, a designated Site of Memory, to the Escuela de Educación Secundaria N°6 José Gervasio Artigas. The route was chosen for its historical significance regarding state terrorism during Argentina's last dictatorship. The secondary school specifically honors the memory of 20 disappeared students. This regional event serves as a precursor to a larger mobilization scheduled for September 16 in La Plata.
