Students injured in San Cristóbal school panic after tire explosion

Eight students were injured after jumping from the first floor of Escuela N° 40 Mariano Moreno in San Cristóbal, Santa Fe, following a loud explosion nearby. The noise was caused by a truck tire bursting on the nearby Provincial Route 2.

The students, aged between 13 and 17, jumped in a state of panic. Injuries reported include head wounds requiring sutures, fractures to the wrist, nose, and ribs, as well as ankle and pelvic trauma. While most students treated in San Cristóbal have been discharged, a 17-year-old girl was transferred to the Jaime Ferré Regional Hospital in Rafaela for treatment of chest trauma and four broken ribs.

Santa Fe Education Minister José Goity stated that the students' impulsive reaction was largely due to the psychological trauma following a shooting at the same school in March, which resulted in the death of a student. The recent incident occurred around 7:10 AM as students were entering the building.
