Students participate in regional chess competitions across Brazil

Various chess competitions involving students are taking place across Brazil. In São José dos Pinhais, the third stage of the School Chess Circuit brought together 1,625 students at the Max Rosenmann Sport and Leisure Center. The event included participants from municipal schools, private institutions, and 16 other municipalities in the Curitiba Metropolitan Region.

In João Pessoa, six students from the municipal school system are competing in the ‘Nordestão de Xadrez 2026 – Memorial Machado de Assis’. Organized by the Paraíba Chess Federation with oversight from the Brazilian Chess Confederation and the International Chess Federation (FIDE), the tournament allows students from the local ‘Xadrez Escolar’ project to compete at a high level for national and international ratings.
