Students participate in Rube Goldberg and robotics competitions

Students from various institutions participated in technical challenges focused on engineering and robotics. At the Technical University of Moldova (UTM), nine teams competed in the Rube Goldberg 2026 tournament. The objective was to design complex mechanisms to turn a book page without direct contact, using budgets of approximately 5,000 lei and a two-month preparation period. Participants included students from the Faculty of Construction, Geodesy, and Cadastre, as well as the Faculty of Mechanical, Industrial, and Transport Engineering. A team from the Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu University Center in Cahul also traveled to Chisinau to compete.

In another technical event, the MDM team, consisting of five children from Buzau, won first place in the Freestyle Showcase Kids category at the RoboChallenge 2026 international robotics competition held at the National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest. Their project, BeeBot, utilizes artificial intelligence and LEGO components to automate access to beehives, aiming to protect apiaries. The project was developed through the Coding Education Center Buzau and the Buzau Codeaza Association.
